In 2018, the strength of Southern California has been tested by devastation from wildfires and a senseless shooting in Thousand Oaks. Hearts connected by tragedy have came together to lift up their neighbors and friends. Artist James Coleman, whose own neighborhood has been affected with many of his neighbors losing their homes, is trying to help however he can. He is donating 100% of proceeds from sales of his painting Hope On The Horizon to those affected by both the fires and the shooting.
“We were jolted by the shooting news, so close to home. And then we were hit again by the fires. No one has been spared,” said Coleman. “My neighbor’s house burned down completely. I was fortunate when a firefighter activated a hydrant in front of my home.”
Coleman, who began his art career at Disney Studios and whose paintings appeared in classics including The Black Cauldron, Sleeping Beauty and The Little Mermaid, has been using art to reach others his entire life. “I feel like Hope On The Horizon delivers the right message at the right time - that together we can. There might be a few dark moments, but as neighbors and Southern Californians we will find those bright moments again.”

“Everyone is here doing what they can to help. You see positivity everywhere on every corner,” said Coleman. “I’m proud of my hometown and I’m humbled by the good people we have here. These are my neighbors, my friends, my family. I’m honored to help in anyway I can.”
